HDIL leads gainers in 'A' group

Adani Power, Wockhardt, Adani Enterprises and Indiabulls Real Estate are among the other gainers.

Real estate developer Housing Development and Infrastructure (HDIL) spurted 13.19% to Rs 70.80. The stock topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group. Realty stocks extended recent gains today, 11 January 2012, on expectations that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will start cutting interest rates in the coming months to prop up slowing economy. Lowerinterest rates may help revive demand for properties as purchases of both residentialand commercial property are largely driven by finance.

Pharmaceutical company Wockhardt jumped 10.77% to Rs 336.85. Wockhardt is launching the product immediately in the US, the company said in a statement. According to IMS Health, the total market for Fluticasone nasal spray in the US is about $580 million and there are only three other generic versions of the product in the US.
