Cong's UP miss miffs mkt, Sensex ends 190 pts down

The BSE Sensex seems to be disappointed with the UP Assembly election results and wiped out more than 500 points from day's high just before closing.

The benchmark rallied more than 300 points in first half of trade on hopes that there would be SP-Congress alliance in Uttar Pradesh, which would have been helpful for the Congress to take reforms further. However, that remained a dream for the Congress as Mulayam Singh of Samajwadi Party is set to become Chief Minister of UP government without taking any help from other party. This was taken negatively by the market in second half of trade.

Astrazeneca Pharma India clocked volume of 1.38 Lakh shares on BSE, a 6.58-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 10,000 shares. The stock surged 0.35% to Rs 2094.15 !

Nestle India s notched up volume of 18,350 shares, a 4.1-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 4,000 shares. The stock falls 0.16% to Rs 4,457.45 !

Wheels India clocked volume of 1.78 lakh shares, a 2.72-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 46,000 shares. The stock lost 6.18% to Rs 560.50 !

Tata Motors-DVR clocked volume of 32.37 lakh shares, a 2.24-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 10.26 lakh shares. The Tata Motors-DVR was down 1.17% to Rs 143.50 !

Bajaj Hindusthan clocked volume of 30.57 lakh shares, a 1.77-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 10.11 lakh shares. The stock lost 7.86% to Rs 33.40 !
