MARKET UPDATES

SHREE GANESHAY NAMAAH !
Flat market: Expert says buy only if Nifty crosses 5400
Credit Policy: RBI sees sticky inflation; risks to upside
The market was flat ahead of the RBI's annual monetary policy scheduled to be announced on April 17. The BSE benchmark rose 56.44 points, to close at 17,150.95 and the NSE benchmark went up 18.75 points to end at 5,226.20. The market is waiting patiently for RBI policy action tomorrow. While most economists see a rate cut of  25 basis points and expecting it to surge on it, others feel that the market has already factored in a rate cut.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said inflation was likely to remain near current levels during the fiscal year, with risks still to the upside, sounding a cautious note a day before it is expected to cut its policy interest rate for the first time in three years.
Earlier on Monday, India reported annual wholesale price index (WPI) inflation for March at 6.89%, mainly driven by higher food prices, exceeding forecasts.

Bullish spell: 313 companies seen a rise in retail holdings in Q4
Retail holdings in many companies have gone up in January-March amid a short-term revival in market sentiment due to robust FII buying, dilution in promoter stake over government’s mandatory minimum 25% public holding and year-end trading frenzy. Retail shareholders have raised their holdings in more than half of the companies, mostly including small and medium-sized, amid a 2000-point gain in Sensex in January-March.
Out of the 612 companies, which have so far filed their shareholding data with stock exchanges, as many as 313 companies have seen a rise in holding of retail shareholders, bifurcated as those holding shares worth nominal value of up to Rs 1 lakh and also in excess of Rs 1 lakh.
