Sensex, Nifty trim losses; TCS extends gain, RIL rebounds
Indian shares pared losses due to further upmove in Tata Consultancy Services. Reliance Industries, State Bank of India and Bharti Airtel bounced back. Even the European markets cut losses; France's CAC, Germany's DAX and Britain's FTSE were flat.
गिरावट पर बंद बाजार, छोटे-मझौले पिटे
खराब विदेशी संकेतों की वजह से लगातार तीसरे दिन बाजार पर गिरावट हावी रही। साथ ही, कोयला आंवटन पर संसद में हंगामा जारी रहने से भी बाजार का मनोबल टूटा।
सेंसेक्स 47 अंक गिरकर 17632 और निफ्टी 16 अंक गिरकर 5335 पर बंद हुए। दिग्गजों से ज्यादा छोटे और मझौले शेयरों में गिरावट नजर आई। निफ्टी मिडकैप इंडेक्स 1.25 फीसदी और बीएसई स्मॉलकैप इंडेक्स 1.5 फीसदी टूटे।

Pipavav Defence gains as promoter exercises warrants conversion option, Pipavav Defence and Offshore Engineering Company rose 2.91% to Rs 63.60 on BSE after the company allotted 1 crore fully paid-up equity shares at Rs 78 per share to a promoter group company on conversion of convertible warrants.
Ranbaxy Lab drops after 4-day 7.9% rally, Ranbaxy Laboratories fell 0.78% to Rs 549.95 on BSE, with the stock sliding on profit booking after 4-day 7.97% rally triggered by the firm's clarification on its withdrawal of 27 approved abbreviated new drug applications in US market.
Aviation shares grounded as crude advances, Jet Airways India (down 3.27%), Kingfisher Airlines (down 3.49%) and SpiceJet (down 0.47%) declined. After crude oil prices edged higher on Tuesday.
Sun Pharma gains as Caraco gets USFDA nod to resume operations, It rose 1.69% to Rs 681.15  on BSE after the company said the US drug regulator has notified that Caraco may resume operations at its manufacturing facility and packaging sites in Detriot and Wixom, Michigan.
HCL Info cuts gains after clarification on Lenovo buyout report, It jumped 20.50% at Rs 43.80 on BSE, paring steep intraday gains triggered by newspaper report of the Lenovo Group looking to buy promoters' stake in the hardware firm for about Rs 500 crore.

Volumes jump at Federal Bank counter
HCL Infosystems, Kajaria Ceramics, Rajesh Exports, and Plethico Pharmaceuticals are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE, 28 August 2012.
Federal Bank clocked volume of 1.12 crore shares on BSE, a 1,593.36-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 6,000 shares. The stock lost 3.04% to Rs 401.09 after 4.98% equity changed hands in three bulk deals on the BSE today, 28 August 2012.
HCL Infosystems notched up volume of 52.42 lakh shares, a 22.12-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 91,000 shares. The stock jumped 20.50% to Rs 43.80.
Kajaria Ceramics clocked volume of 2.86 lakh shares, a 13.58-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 21,000 shares. The stock fell 2.85% to Rs 172.10.
Rajesh Exports clocked volume of 9.90 lakh shares, a 7.45-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.26 lakh shares. The stock jumps 4.01% to Rs 123.25.
Plethico Pharmaceuticals clocked volume of 4.70 lakh shares, a 2.15-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.77 lakh shares. The stock surged 9.60% to Rs 209.45.
