Volumes jump at Bajaj Electricals counter
Colgate-Palmolive (India), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, Karnataka Bank and Sintex Industries are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 15 October 2013.
Bajaj Electricals clocked volume of 3.75 lakh shares by 12:51 IST on BSE, a 22.28-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 17,000 shares. The stock rose 1.43% to Rs 163.55.
Colgate-Palmolive (India) notched up volume of 1.21 lakh shares, a 7.56-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 16,000 shares. The stock rose 0.42% to Rs 1,234.20.
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone saw volume of 11.21 lakh shares, a 4.87-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 2.30 lakh shares. The stock rose 0.33% to Rs 151.35.
Karnataka Bank clocked volume of 18.37 lakh shares, a 3.88-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 4.73 lakh shares. The stock fell 3.81% to Rs 104.75.
Sintex Industries saw volume of 20.23 lakh shares, a 2.84-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 7.13 lakh shares. The stock fell 1.36% to Rs 25.35.
The BSE Mid-Cap index fell 1.3% and the BSE Small-Cap index shed 0.95%. Both these indices underperformed the Sensex.
The BSE Metal index (up 0.91%), the BSE IT index (up 0.61%), the BSE Teck index (up 0.59%) and the BSE FMCG index (up 0.17%) outperformed the Sensex.
The BSE Oil & Gas index (down 0.39%), the BSE HealthCare index (down 0.48%), the BSE Auto index (down 0.6%), the BSE Power index (down 0.7%), the BSE Capital Goods index (down 0.75%), the BSE PSU index (down 0.95%), the BSE Consumer Durables index (down 1.2%), the BSE Realty index (down 1.6%) and the BSE Bankex (down 2.59%) underperformed the Sensex.
The total turnover on BSE amounted to Rs 1894 crore, higher than Rs 1676.30 crore on Monday, 14 October 2013.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was negative. On BSE, 1,435 shares dropped and 984 shares rose. A total of 143 shares were unchanged.
