Sensex ends 286 pts up on broadbased buying; L&T up 4.5%

The BSE Sensex surged as much as 303 points intraday on Wednesday, seeing best session since March 9, 2012. Short covering and somewhat value based buying helped the market rally. Every sector participated in today's rally - capital goods, banks & financials, technology and telecom stocks, and Reliance Industries were leading gainers !

Shriram Transport Finance Company clocked volume of 3.01 lakh shares on BSE, a 27.36-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 11,000 shares. The stockrose 0.87% to Rs 599.55 !

Sun TV Network notched up volume of 8.08 lakh shares, a 24.47-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 32,000 shares. The stock rose 2.02% to Rs 321.40 !

Tech Mahindra clocked volume of 7.20 lakh shares, a 20.6-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 23,000 shares. The stock rose 5.48% to Rs 683.90 after the board's of Tech Mahindra and Mahindra Satyam approved merger between both the companies. As per the merger scheme, shareholders of Mahindra Satyam will receive two shares of Tech Mahindra for every 17 shares held in Mahindra Satyam !

LIC Housing Finance clocked volume of 1.64 crore shares, a 15.73-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 10.32 lakh shares. The stock rose 5.37% to 268.95 !

Muthoot Finance clocked volume of 3.17 lakh shares, a 9.57-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 33,000 shares. The stock lost 1.13% to Rs 162.30 !
