MARKET UPDATES

SHREE GANESHAY NAMAAH !
Will 'sell in May, go away' sentiment cripple D-Street ?
If last week was anything to go by, the view on the street was that gains were going to be hard to come by. Experts were prepared for the May selling to begin, but a fall in US GDP shook things up.
Weaker-than-expected US economic growth reignited hopes of further stimulus from the Federal Reserve, which boosted equities worldwide. Stoked by a weakening dollar, upbeat Asian markets and global equities, Dalal Street finished off the day on a high note. The Nifty hit its highest level in a week to close at 5,248, up close to 40 points. The Sensex gained over 131 points to finish at 17,318.
The Indian Metrological Department's projection of normal rains in the monsoon period was another factor that aided the market’s upmove, both today and during last week’s special trading session.
