Mkt sees 2nd highest ever turnover, Sensex ends 72 pts down
The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty closed the session with marginal losses on Wednesday ahead of settlement day for July contract. The market saw the second highest turnover today of Rs 3.01 lakh crore while the highest ever turnover stood at Rs 3.29 lakh crore that traded on February 23, 2012

आखिर आज शेयर बाजार हिम्मत हारता दिखा। आज एशिया के सभी बड़े बाजारों में गिरावट दिखी और इसका असर घरेलू बाजारों पर भी रहा। हालांकि दोपहर में खुले यूरोपीय बाजारों से संकेत अच्छे थे। इसका कुछ फायदा मिला और निचले स्तरों से काफी सुधार दिखा, मगर बावजूद इसके सेंसेक्स और निफ्टी हरे निशान में आने में नाकामयाब रहे।

United Breweries leads gainers in 'A' group
HCL Technologies, Shree Cement, Zee Entertainment Enterprises and Hexaware Technologies are among the other gainers.
Beer maker United Breweries spurted 9.60% to Rs 549.80. The stock topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group.
IT company HCL Technologies jumped 6.68% to Rs 513.75 after consolidated net profit as per US accounting standards jumped 28.7% to $156 million on 3% growth in revenue at $1.08 billion in Q4 June 2012 over Q3 March 2012. The result was announced before trading hours today, 25 July 2012. The stock was second biggest gainer in 'A' group.
Shree Cement climbed 4.35% to Rs 3000. The stock was third biggest gainer in 'A' group. Shares of most cement companies extended recent rally triggered by UltraTech Cement posting better-than-expected Q1 results last week.
Media company Zee Entertainment Enterprises rose 3.93% to Rs 160.15, extending recent gains triggered by good Q1 outcome. The stock was fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 161.60 in intraday today, 25 July 2012.
Zee Entertainment Enterprises, during trading hours on Friday, 20 July 2012, said its consolidated profit after tax rose 21% to Rs 157 crore on 21% growth in operating revenue to Rs 843 crore in Q1 June 2012 over Q1 June 2011. The stock has risen 9.59% in four consecutive sessions from a recent low of Rs 146 on 19 July 2012.
IT company Hexaware Technologies rose 3.81% to Rs 117.25. The stock was fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group. The company will announce Q2 results on 31 July 2012.

Volumes jump at Akzo Nobel India counter
India Motor Parts & Accessories, Marico, Monnet Ispat & Energy, and HCL Technologies are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE, 25 July 2012.
Akzo Nobel India clocked volume of 1.54 lakh shares by 13:15 IST on BSE, a 112.80-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 1,000 shares. The stock surged 3.71% to Rs 915.15.
India Motor Parts & Accessories notched up volume of 1.34 lakh shares, a 46.08-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 3,000 shares. The stock jumped 11.51% to Rs 890.05. The stock hit a high of Rs 901.80 so far during the day, which is a record high for the counter.
Marico clocked volume of 5.51 lakh shares, a 40.17-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 14,000 shares. The stock rose 3.24% to Rs 194.30.
Monnet Ispat & Energy clocked volume of 3.06 lakh shares, a 34.06-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 9,000 shares. The stock lost 0.77% to Rs 385.
HCL Technologies notched up volume of 5.23 lakh shares, a 10.98-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 48,000 shares. The stock jumped 6.5% to Rs 512.90.
HCL Technologies' consolidated net profit as per US accounting standards surged 28.7% to $156 million on 3% growth in revenue to $1.08 billion in Q4 June 2012 over Q3 March 2012.
