MARKET UPDATES :
The total turnover on BSE amounted to Rs 2816 crore, higher than Rs 2600 crore on Tuesday, 11 December 2012.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was negative. On BSE, 1,497 shares declined and 1,431 shares rose. A total of 135 shares were unchanged.
From the 30-share Sensex pack, 19 stocks fell while rest of them rose.
Two wheeler makers gained. Hero MotoCorp rose 1.99%.
The Bank of Japan's two-day policy meeting on Dec. 19 and 20 will take place after general elections on Dec. 16.
Stock With Volumes :
Volume jumps in Tech Mahindra counter, Mahindra Satyam, NMDC, Jindal Steel & Power and Bajaj Auto are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 12 December 2012.
Tech Mahindra clocked volume of 39.34 lakh shares by 12:55 IST on BSE, a 84.74-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 46,000 shares. The stock rose 4.16% to Rs 914.90.
A total of four block deals were executed in the stock in early trade on BSE today, 12 December 2012. One block deal of 15.52 lakh shares was executed at Rs 894.45 per share. Another block deal of 2 lakh shares was struck at Rs 880. A block deal of 2.08 lakh shares was struck at Rs 892.75 and another block deal of 1.06 lakh shares was executed at Rs 900. BT is reportedly selling its entire 9.10% stake in Tech Mahindra today, 12 December 2012.
Mahindra Satyam notched up volume of 47.54 lakh shares, a 10.70-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 4.44 lakh shares. The stock rose 6.15% to Rs 103.55.
NMDC saw volume of 17.02 lakh shares, a 10.15-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.68 lakh shares. The stock rose 0.60% to Rs 160.25.
Investors placed bids for 10.85 crore shares till 12:55 IST for Government of India's (GoI) Offer for Sale (OFS) of NMDC shares through the stock exchanges mechanism today, 12 December 2012. GoI is selling 39.64 crore shares constituting 10% stake in NMDC through the Offer for Sale (OFS) mechanism via the stock exchanges route. The OFS began at 9:15 IST and will end at 15:30 IST today, 12 December 2012. GoI after trading hours Tuesday, 11 December 2012, announced the floor price for the OFS at Rs 147. Shares of NMDC had risen 2.94% to settle at Rs 159.30 on BSE on Tuesday, 11 December 2012.
Jindal Steel & Power clocked volume of 7.67 lakh shares, a 3.93-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.95 lakh shares. The stock fell 0.94% to Rs 415.40.
Bajaj Auto saw volume of 1.37 lakh shares, a 2.94-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 47,000 shares. The stock rose 1.60% to Rs 2,036. The stock hit a record high of Rs 2,047.05 in intraday today, 12 December 2012.
