Market breadth turns positive from negative in late trade
MARKET UPDATES :
The total turnover on the BSE amounted to Rs 1636 crore, lower than Rs 2214 crore on Friday, 21 December 2012.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, turned positive from negative in late trade. Earlier, the breadth had turned negative from positive in mid-afternoon trade. On BSE, 1,447 shares rose and 1,421 shares fell. A total of 167 shares were unchanged.
From the 30-share Sensex pack, 15 stocks gained while the rest of them fell.
Stock With Volumes :
Volumes jump at FDC counter, Kaveri Seed Company, GAIL (India), JK Lakshmi Cement, and Amtek Auto are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 24 December 2012.
FDC clocked volume of 19.65 lakh shares by 12:59 IST on BSE, a 129.89-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 15,000 shares. The stock jumped 9.97% at Rs 97.10.
FDC during trading hours today, 24 December 2012 clarified on the news titled "Pharma Back on M&A Street, FDC Owners in Talks to Exit" that the news is completely false and baseless.
Kaveri Seed Company notched up volume of 88,000 shares, a 13.99-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 6,000 shares. The stock surged 9.47% at Rs 1,266.75.
GAIL (India) saw volume of 3.12 lakh shares, a 6.9-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 45,000 shares. The stock rose 0.85% to Rs 351.25.
JK Lakshmi Cement clocked volume of 3.48 lakh shares, a 5.98-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 58,000 shares. The stock jumped 5.96% to Rs 154.70.
Amtek Auto saw volume of 10.10 lakh shares, a 3.01-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 3.36 lakh shares. The stock surged 5.29% to Rs 88.55.
