Sensex, Nifty trade flat; Sterlite, Hindalco toppers
Towards late afternoon, the market witnessed sudden weakness with the Nifty slipping below 5900. At 15.02 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 43.53 points or 0.22% at 19391.65, and the Nifty up 6.45 points or 0.11% at 5895.70.

मजबूत अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संकेतों की वजह से बाजारों में तेजी का रुझान नजर आया। सेंसेक्स 44 अंक चढ़कर 19392 और निफ्टी 11 अंक चढ़कर 5900 पर बंद हुए। 13 अप्रैल 2011 के बाद पहली बार निफ्टी 5900 के ऊपर बंद हुआ।

Organised retailers, aviation stocks rally
Key benchmark indices edged higher in volatile trade as world stocks rose after comments from China's new leaders that they would continue their supportive policy stance. The barometer index, BSE Sensex, was provisionally up 60.28 points or 0.31%, up 37.39 points from the day's low and off 54.85 points from the day's high. The market breadth was positive. Index heavyweight and cigarette maker ITC edged higher.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was positive. On BSE, 1,727 shares gained and 1,266 shares fell. A total of 124 shares were unchanged.
The total turnover on BSE amounted to Rs 2870 crore, lower than Rs 2940 on Tuesday, 4 December 2012.
From the 30-share Sensex pack, 17 stocks rose while the rest of them fell.
Stock With Volumes :
Volumes jump at JVL Agro Industries counter, BEML, Container Corporation of India, Venus Remedies, and Tree House Education & Accessories are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 5 December 2012.
JVL Agro Industries notched up volume of 30.14 lakh shares by 13:07 IST on BSE, a 76.51-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 39,000 shares. The stock lost 4.14% to Rs 17.35.
BEML saw volume of 7.11 lakh shares, a 41.65-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 17,000 shares. The stock jumped 8.37% to Rs 316.60 after the company said it has secured orders aggregating Rs 523 crore from Saudi Arabia and Indian Railways. The company announced the new orders after market hours on Tuesday, 4 December 2012.
Container Corporation of India clocked volume of 4.04 lakh shares, a 15.66-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 26,000 shares. The stock lost 0.86% to Rs 914.90 after a block deal of 3.92 lakh shares was executed on BSE at Rs 910 per share at 9:34 IST. The block deal constitutes 0.3% of Container Corporation of India's equity.
Venus Remedies notched up volume of 2.21 lakh shares, a 12.23-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 18,000 shares. The stock jumped 7.28% to Rs 320.50.
Tree House Education & Accessories notched up volume of 3.74 lakh shares, a 9.21-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 41,000 shares. The stock jumped 13.75% to Rs 268.50. The stock hit a record high of Rs 278.85 in the intraday trade today, 5 December 2012, after the company's board approved raising funds through allotment of equity shares and warrants on preferential basis. The announcement was made after trading session on Tuesday, 4 December 2012.
