Sensex manages to keep head above water; Bharti up over 4%
The Sensex rose on Wednesday, led by gains in Bharti Airtel after the company raised call prices, but sentiment remain constrained ahead of key earnings results and an impending central bank's critical decision on interest rates next week.

MARKET UPDATES :
The total turnover on BSE amounted to Rs 2459 crore, higher than Rs 2423 crore on Tuesday, 22 January 2013.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was weak. On BSE, 1,828 shares declined and 1,139 shares rose. A total of 138 shares were unchanged.
Among the 30-share Sensex pack, 16 rose while the rest of them fell.
Stock With Volumes :
Volumes jump at Container Corporation of India counter, Natco Pharma, Sanofi India, Ajanta Pharma, and Sudaram Finance are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 23 January 2013.
Container Corporation of India notched up volume of 98,000 shares by 13:11 IST on BSE, a 95.79-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1,000 shares. The stock lost 1.01% at Rs 932.
Natco Pharma saw volume of 2.25 lakh shares, a 59.79-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 4,000 shares. The stock jumped 3.53% to Rs 477.60.
Sanofi India clocked volume of 30,000 shares, a 33.4-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1,000 shares. The stock lost 0.09% at Rs 2,300.
Ajanta Pharma clocked volume of 5.61 lakh shares, a 28.87-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 19,000 shares. The stock was locked at 20% upper circuit at Rs 490.65 after net profit jumped 76% to Rs 33 crore on 40% growth in revenue from operations to Rs 229 crore in Q3 December 2012 over Q3 December 2011. The company announced Q3 results during trading hours today, 23 January 2013.
Sudaram Finance saw volume of 1.18 lakh shares, a 19.92-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 6,000 shares. The stock lost 0.76% at Rs 471.
