Nifty falls below 6,000
The total turnover on BSE amounted to Rs 2632 crore, higher than Rs 2576 crore on Friday, 4 January 2013.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was positive. On BSE, 1,609 shares rose and 1,323 shares fell. A total of 134 shares were unchanged.
Among the 30-share Sensex pack, 19 declined while the rest of them rose.
Stock With Volumes :
Volumes jump in TD Power Systems counter, HSIL, Elgi Equipments, Wyeth and Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 7 January 2013.
TD Power Systems clocked volume of 3.14 lakh shares by 12:53 IST on BSE, a 279.93-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 1,000 shares. The stock rose 4.49% to Rs 256.
HSIL notched up volume of 74.15 lakh shares, a 157.47-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 47,000 shares. The stock fell 0.47% to Rs 137.45.
Elgi Equipments saw volume of 14.18 lakh shares, a 151.31-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 9,000 shares. The stock rose 7.35% to Rs 98.55.
Wyeth clocked volume of 58,000 shares, a 27.61-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 2,000 shares. The stock rose 0.34% to Rs 873.90.
Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals saw volume of 54.47 lakh shares, a 17.52-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 3.11 lakh shares. The stock rose 2.96% to Rs 73
