Market at day's high; Tata Steel, Infy, Sterlite fall
Markets have picked up a bit with Nifty managing to cling on to the 6000 mark. At 15.04 PM, the Sensex is up 54.91 points or 0.28% at 19746.33, and the Nifty up 13.95 points or 0.23% at 6002.35.

Nifty regains 6,000 mark
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was negative. On BSE, 1,468 shares fell and 1,451 shares rose. A total of 142 shares were unchanged.
Among the 30-share Sensex pack, 16 rose while the rest of them fell.
The total turnover on BSE amounted to Rs 2688 crore, higher than Rs 2632 crore on Monday, 7 January 2013.
Stock With Volumes :
Volumes jump in EPC Industrie counter, Cinemax India, Shree Ganesh Jewellery House, United Breweries and MT Educare are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 8 January 2013.
EPC Industrie clocked volume of 48.76 lakh shares by 13:07 IST on BSE, a 214.94-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 23,000 shares. The stock spurted 10% to Rs 152.90.
Cinemax India notched up volume of 1.94 crore shares, a 179.54-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.08 lakh shares. The stock fell 1.22% to Rs 198.20.
Shree Ganesh Jewellery House saw volume of 5.38 lakh shares, a 5.29-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.02 lakh shares. The stock jumped 7.84% to Rs 137.50.
United Breweries clocked volume of 4.90 lakh shares, a 3.19-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.54 lakh shares. The stock rose 5.49% to Rs 105.85.
MT Educare saw volume of 6.48 lakh shares, a 2.62-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 2.47 lakh shares. The stock rose 4.16% to Rs 140.10.
