Budget 2012: Anemic market: Experts suggest how to trade before Budget

It has been another day of weakness for the indices. It has moved quite in the opposite direction of the global markets. The Nifty floundered around just holding itself above the 5400 level while the Sensextoo lost 86 points to shut shop at 17923.

Most experts feel that the slip was awaited and is likely to a silent zone till the Union Budget is announced on March 16.

The 64.27 lakh shares IPO of MCX - world's 5th largest commodity exchange - turned out to be one of the best received offer in the last more than a year. The issue has been subscribed 53.78 times (at 5 pm) on the last day with overwhelming response from every type of investor.

Oracle Financial Services Software clocked volume of 3.54 lakh shares on BSE, a 28.81-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 7,000 shares. The stock jumped 16.44% to Rs 2,583.05 !

HDFC notched up volume of 30.82 lakh shares, a 13.37-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 2.01 lakh shares. The stock lost 03.45% to Rs 676.20. The stock saw massive volumes on NSE today, 24 February 2012, with 15.57 crore shares exchanging hands in the counter so far. Citigroup Inc. has sold 14.53 crore shares, or its entire 9.85% stake in HDFC via block deals executed on NSE at the onset of the trading session today, 24 February 2012. The HDFC sale marks the culmination of Citigroup's seven-year investment in India's largest mortgage lender by assets !

Videocon Industries clocked volume of 8.09 lakh shares, a 5.02-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 1.26 lakh shares. The stock surged 03.60% to Rs 188.35 !

Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers clocked volume of 27.03 lakh shares, a 5 fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 3.88 lakh shares. The stock jumped 10.19% to Rs 44.35 on reports two Indian companies have approached parent UB Group to buy its stake in the company !

Amtek Auto clocked volume of 7.11 lakh shares, a 3.58-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 1.87 lakh shares. The stock rose 1.17% to Rs 142.15 !
