MARKET UPDATES :
The total turnover on BSE amounted to Rs 2452 crore, higher than Rs 2408 crore on Friday, 14 December 2012.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was positive. On BSE, 1,519 shares gained and 1,375 shares fell. A total of 134 shares were unchanged.
From the 30-share Sensex pack, 16 stocks rose while rest of them fell.
Stock With Volumes :
Volumes jump at Ipca Laboratories counter, Geodesic, Wheels India, Honeywell Automation India, and HDFC are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 17 December 2012.
Ipca Laboratories clocked volume of 5.97 lakh shares by 13:15 IST on BSE, a 19.46-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 31,000 shares. The stock rose 3.38% to Rs 501.05.
Geodesic notched up volume of 36.84 lakh shares, a 15.78-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 2.34 lakh shares. The stock lost 2.04% to Rs 28.85.
Wheels India saw volume of 1.30 lakh shares, a 14.45-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 9,000 shares. The stock surged 4.65% to Rs 929.40. The stock hit record high of Rs 967 in the intraday trade today, 17 December 2012.
Honeywell Automation India clocked volume of 1.11 lakh shares, a 11.01-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 10,000 shares. The stock jumped 16.69% at Rs 2,796.
HDFC saw volume of 8.47 lakh shares, a 6.77-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 1.25 lakh shares. The stock lost 1.39% at Rs 840.50 after 0.05% equity changed hands in a bulk deal struck on the BSE today, 17 December 2012. A bulk deal of 8.05 lakh shares was struck on the HDFC counter at Rs 855.30 per share at 09:39 IST on the BSE today, 17 December 2012.
