It's a quiet expiry session with the Nifty hovering around 5900. Autos and banks have seen some gains while commodities have dragged. Broader markets are performing marginally better.

RIL extends losses in late trade
MARKET UPDATES :
The total turnover on the BSE amounted to Rs 2088 crore, higher than Rs 1948 crore on Wednesday, 26 December 2012. The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was negative. On BSE, 1,625 shares declined and 1,252 shares rose. A total of 128 shares were unchanged. From the 30-share Sensex pack, 20 stocks declined while the rest of them gained.
Among other FMCG stocks, Marico, Hindustan Unilever, Godrej Consumer Products and Dabur India dropped by 0.29% to 2.28%.
Nestle India rose 2.72% to Rs 4956. The stock hit record high of Rs 5024.85 in intraday trade today, 27 December 2012.
Capital goods stocks fell on profit booking after recent gains. Bhel, L&T, ABB, Siemens and BEML shed by between 0.18% to 1.8%.
Stock With Volumes :
Volumes jump at Divi's Laboratories counter, Cadila Healthcare, Bharat Forge, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services, and Bajaj Finserv are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 27 December 2012.
Divi's Laboratories clocked volume of 6.69 lakh shares by 13:06 IST on BSE, a 36.39-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 18,000 shares. The stock rose 2.33% to Rs 1,083.25.
Cadila Healthcare notched up volume of 76,000 shares, a 8.52-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 9,000 shares. The stock rose 0.67% to Rs 893.
Bharat Forge saw volume of 3.35 lakh shares, a 8.41-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 40,000 shares. The stock rose 0.85% to Rs 254.80.
Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services clocked volume of 6.11 lakh shares, a 6.97-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 88,000 shares. The stock rose 1.35% to Rs 1,131. The stock hit a record high of Rs 1,172.55 in the intraday trade today, 27 December 2012.
Bajaj Finserv saw volume of 8.08 lakh shares, a 6.51-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 1.24 lakh shares. The stock rose 1.54% to Rs 919.
