Sensex ends 180 pts up; Maruti wows street, midcaps excel
Equity benchmarks made a remarkable recovery on Friday on short covering, the markets closed near day's high. The Sensex closed up 179.75 points or 0.90% at 20103.53, and the Nifty ended the day 55.30 points or 0.92% up at 6074.65.

Q3 results, RBI's monetary policy review in focus
Interest rate sensitive stocks rally on rate cut expectations
The total turnover on BSE amounted to Rs 2349 crore, lower than Rs 2555 crore on Thursday, 24 January 2013.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was positive. On BSE, 1,655 shares rose and 1,220 shares fell. A total of 115 shares were unchanged.
Among the 30-share Sensex pack, 24 rose while the rest of them fell.
Stock With Volumes :
Volumes jump at Arshiya International counter, Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company, Tata Power, Bharat Forge, and Canara Bank are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 25 January 2013.
Arshiya International notched up volume of 44.36 lakh shares by 13:19 IST on BSE, a 229.88-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 19,000 shares. The stock rose 0.75% at Rs 40.20.
Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company saw volume of 2.36 lakh shares, a 27.03-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 9,000 shares. The stock lost 1.2% at Rs 278.85.
Tata Power clocked volume of 25.82 lakh shares, a 12.46-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 2.07 lakh shares. The stock lost 0.79% at Rs 106.45.
Bharat Forge clocked volume of 5.94 lakh shares, a 10.73-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 55,000 shares. The stock lost 1.55% to Rs 228.80.
Canara Bank saw volume of 6.54 lakh shares, a 9.51-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 69,000 shares. The stock rose 0.54% at Rs 495.75.
